Spoilers/Setting: The Witch.
Summary: Buffy’s day had started out so well, but it’s been going downhill fast ever since.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.




Buffy feels wonderful, happy, full of energy. It’s a beautiful morning, the sun’s shining because duh, California. The birds are singing. Probably. Her mom’s in the kitchen, squeezing fresh orange juice, which is yum beyond belief, and best of all, she gets to try out for the cheerleading squad! What’s not to be happy about? She’s high on life!


Only the high doesn’t last. Cheerleading try-outs go less than well, and suddenly Buffy isn’t feeling so great, sort of woozy, and then nothing until she comes to in the library with a cool, wet cloth on her forehead.


Turns out it wasn’t life she was high on, but something far less healthy, a magic spell that Giles says destroys a person’s immune system. Probably the only reason Buffy isn’t dead already is because she’s the Slayer, blessed with physical enhancements even the fittest, healthiest regular person can’t boast. But even that won’t help her for long. She’s doomed unless the spell can be reversed.


Only a short while ago Buffy had been on top of the world; now her life expectancy can be measured in hours. She can feel herself fading fast, but there’s still hope. She’s not giving up.

It's one of those episodes that stands out in my mind the most. I mean, Buffy singing "Macho Man" in a cheerleaders outfit, wanting juice is pretty memorable. :D

Back when Amy had potential and Cordelia was still a mean girl. I can understand that.:)

I remember Buffy episodes more by how they effect said character directly. The one where Buffy was invisible..., the one where Buffy was able to read peoples mind's...*mental blank*

But alas I forget the exact title's.

I couldn't remember the title of the one where she was invisible (I looked it up: Gone). The other one is Earshot. Mostly I remember the titles for seasons 1 to 3, they're the ones I've watched most often.

In one DW Quiz, I got 12 out of 15. I'm never good at remembering numbers or unusual names.*shrugs*

It's one way of deciding which episodes I could rewatch. If I felt like it.

There's so many kinds of quizzes. So its hard to tell. It's all in good fun, I guess.

True. She is an actor who has to learn so many lines for a variety of roles. You're not going to keep retaining all that information.

If a show comes on that looks like it might appeal to me, I'll give it a go. Sometimes I'll like it, other times I won't. I do like the Rookie, it plays to Fillion's strengths as an actor, but I didn't go looking for it. It just happens to be on the channel I watch most.

I did see the promos. The first thing I notice is that he has gotten into better shape after Castle. Just making an observation.

He had to, there's a lot of running around on the Rookie./ It's a good show with good, interesting characters, and I like the idea of a middle-aged, newly divorced man taking the plunge into a new life doing something that he really feels passionate about.

And in a way, Nathan Fillion IS ruggedly handsome. I like him.

I tried to watch it again with the closed captioning turned on, and that's even more hilarious because the words on the screen bear little resemblance to what was being said, lol!

I heard doing the recording for audio books can be a lengthy process. I'm not sure if it was Graham Norton or someone else who said that?*short term memory issues*

It would be. I mean, how long does it take the average person to read a novel? And when they're recording an audio version, I know it's usually abridged, but that's still an awful lot of talking and if the person reading it makes a mistake, that part has to be recorded again.

It just proves that computers cannot always accurately 'hear' and reproduce what people are saying. I've used the closed captions on snippets from Babylon Five, trying to get things down accurately for a fic, and what comes up on screen is just SO bizarre!

Agreed. The benefits are in favour of the listener.

If I depend on the captions (switch the volume off), then I can't read the comments section at the same time. Sort of takes the fun and purpose out of closed captions in this case.*sighs*

I feel for deaf people who could use a proper translation.

Yes, deaf people get shut out of so many things. I've come to understand that more through one of the contestants on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. She can't hear the music, so she has to rely on her partner guiding her, or if she's doing a solo section of the dance she has to constantly be counting so she knows when to perform each step. She's amazing!

I haven't seen Strictly Come Dancing. Over here, its called Dancing With The Stars. But that sounds interesting. I may have to check it out.

I saw a video of a Blind Chinese runner and her guide. For the Paralympics. I've heard of the saying: Running Blind. But that takes it to a whole different level.

Not the same show since Dancing with the Stars has different contestants, professionals, and judges, but probably still fun to watch.

There were only two couples in the final this year because the third celebrity who qualified suffered a bad ligament tear in training and couldn't dance. She's on crutches.

Bur Rose (the deaf woman) and her pro partner Giovanni competed against John Waite and his pro partner Johannes (first all male couple) in the final and Rose won! I wasn't surprised. I voted for John, because I adore him, but I loved Rose too.

Yes, she really is amazing, she deserved to win and I'm happy for her. I wish John could have won too though, because everything he and Johannes have done together has been groundbreaking. I love the Pirates of the Caribbean Paso Doble. Paso is my favourite dance to watch, and one of Johannes' favourites, and John makes a great Captain Jack Sparrow.

I think everyone fell in love with Rose though, she and Gio were such an inspiring partnership.

Ah, yes, well I hope for good things from Strictly too. And from Dancing on Ice, which should start in January sometime... There's no definite date for that yet.
