Summary: It’s long past closing time at the library, but something’s afoot.

It’s well past midnight; the library is deserted, silent and still. The only light is from the moon shining through tall, arched windows, laying stripes of silver across the shadowed floor.

A door creaks gently, soft footsteps can be heard, then a thud.

“Ow!”

“Shhhh!”

“Stubbed my toe! It hurt!”

“Could you at least try to be stealthy?”

“I am trying to be stealthy! It’s not my fault I can’t see where I’m going!”

“You’re the one who said you didn’t need a torch, Jack! This is the last time I’m helping you sneak overdue books back into the library.”

LOL!!! Wait, I thought Jack had good night vision! Jack, you can't fool librarians; they'll know those books weren't there! Poor Ianto, the things he has to do to keep Jack out of trouble... :D

Jack thinks he has good night vision, but maybe it's not so good in the areas of the library that the moonlight doesn't reach, lol!

The librarian might think they didn't get checked back in properly by the saturday girl, then fell down the back of the shelves. I used to regularly stick my head between shelves and check up and down to look for books that fell down the back.

Ianto is very long-suffering!

I really can't blame Jack for not wanting to pay that hefty of a fine. I have kids. I remember cleaning their rooms or getting books back that were lent to friends and then checking to see when "amnesty week" was at the library so I could take their books back. You just never knew where they were going to turn up.

I think Jack's much better at things you do in close proximity to another warm body when it's dark. Maybe he needs to stay a little closer to Ianto for this, except then they'd get caught for sure.

ROFL! They probably both have a library kink, but this might not be the best occasion to indulge in it!

The library's records probably don't go back that far, the library probably isn't even in the same building now, but you can't be too careful!

Wouldn't surprise me. There's one more part I added that I'll post tomorrow. Occasionally I have the urge to add more parts to existing drabbles and make them into a series, but then it's hard to get around to posting them o_O

I was wondering why it didn't sound familiar when I read it. I was thinking, well it was Challenge 318 so I should have seen it. I keep saying I'm going to go back to all the old challenges and fill those, but finding the time is impossible. I think I started at Challenge 298 from memory, so that's a lot to go back and fill!

My drabble master list keeps getting too big, so I'm separating out the series, but this one only had two parts so I wrote a beginning and an end. I've done the same with another, but again, it's finding time to post and to edit all the other parts so they link ans so people of ff.net, Teaspoon,and AO3 can find the other parts. That was just a nightmare yesterday, posting took forever!

I'm working m,y way through the prompts at dw100, there are over 600 there, so it'll take me a while, but I've done the first 100 or so... Maybe after that I'll do the tw100 prompts. I think I've been there quite a bit longer than you so I've already done a lot of the challenges. You can always just tackle one occasionally if you have a bit of spare time and nothing else to write. Of course, Contest Week should be starting tomorrow...
