A/N: Double drabble.
Arriving at work one morning, Gwen found Ianto and Tosh with Jack in his office, drinking coffee and deep in conversation. Hating to miss out on anything that might be important, she left her jacket and bag at her workstation, poured herself a coffee from the pot in the kitchenette, and went to join them.
“Morning!” she greeted them. “What’s occurring?”
Jack smiled his usual smile and said something Gwen didn’t quite catch.
“Sorry, what was that?”
Although Jack patiently repeated himself, it didn’t help.
Looking from Jack, to Ianto, to Tosh, then back to Ianto again, Gwen frowned. “Is there something up with Jack?”
Ianto smiled and said something unintelligible.
“Oh my god! Tosh, did some kind of alien technology make them forget how to speak English?” Gwen’s mind was a whirl. What if they were completely incapacitated and there was a Rift alert? What if UNIT or the Home Office called? What was she going to do?
Tosh laughed. “Relax, Gwen, there’s nothing wrong. While the Rift’s quiet, Jack’s been helping Ianto and I practice our Galactic Standard. For an hour every morning we don’t speak anything else. Immersion in a language is the best way to learn.”
