“Oi! Space man!”


The Doctor looked back at Donna. “What?”


“How the flippin’ heck do you expect me to get up there?”


“Climb! It’s the quickest way to get to the top.”


“I’m not a mountain goat, sunshine!”


“It’s not that steep, it’s just a hill.”


“It’s a mountain; hills don’t go straight up.”


The Doctor huffed impatiently. “Are you coming or not?”


“You got any ropes or climbing gear in your pockets? No? In that case, think I’ll just stay right here until you get back.”


“Fine, I suppose that means we’ll have to take the long way round.”

I had to walk down a long windy hill from my house for Primary School. They put a proper footpath after I moved house. Typical!*slightly annoyed*

I guess as a kid, its not so bad. Good workout though.

Fun fact: There's a Petit-Escalator in a Japanese Department Store. Someone must have had some money left over. Usually a ramp would be put in place.

How annoying! I had to walk up a steep hill to my grammatr school, but it was a paved road, even if we mostly walked on the grass either side to keep clear of cars.

How sweet! I like escalators of all lengths.

Yeah. And there wasn't a bus I could take. That was from 3rd grade to 6th grade.

At least going to high school was easier because it was relatively a straight path and more closer to my home.

Yeah. It would be handy depending on the scale or structure of a place. And I can guess less waiting time due to it's size. It's not like standard escalators where it can get quite crowded during peak hour.

I took the bus to grammar school but I still had a long walk when I reached the school.

I prefer escalators to elevators.

Shows how lucky I was back then. I didn't have to catch public transport and walk further than previously until I went to TAFE.

That's fair. Elevators are more handy when you have a shopping trolley. Unless there are travelators. It depends where you are really.

I travelled by school buses (although in England they're just regular busses that run specifically for school children), but they dropped students off somewhere down the road outside the school because there were a lot of busses coming in from different areas. Then we had to walk into the school grounds and up the long hill.

I'm claustrophobic so I avoid elevators unless I really can't. I'm scared of getting trapped in one because it's happened before. It was only for a few minutes, but that was enough.

I don't like confined spaces. But I brave lifts sporadically. So long as I have my mobile phone. If a lift looks dodgy, I ain't going on it.

Coincidently, I came across a YouTube review on capsule hotel rooms. Interesting but claustrophobic looking. It reminded me of the pods in the DW episode: Sleep No More, but fancy.

There wasn't room. The busses were huge, and there were forty or so.

Those capsule rooms make a lot of sense for a brief overnight stay, but they're not for everyone.

Fair enough. They say parking closet to the exit of any place, is easier. A drop-off is better than no drop-off at all I guess.

Great for tourist's. In Japan they have ones where you can stand and a small window. But there is a slight lack of privacy. Even if the floors are same sex gender.

So it's whatever people are comfortable with I suppose. I couldn't stay in a place with no lock to my room. Even if it is for fire emergencies. Which is what I'm guessing the reason is.

It wasn't like they had a choice. I had five years of that, and then coming out of school, walking doewn a long line of identical buses parked at the side of the road, trying to find the right one.

I couldn't either. A lock isn't just for privacy, it's for safety.

My mum had to hitch hike or walk some of the way to school as a kid. Because she didn't have enough money.

Exactly. I prefer a cheap motel that has at least the bare necessities and a proper lock. I've never stayed at an unknown accommodation alone. I'm usually with my family.

Hitch-hiking to school must have been scary!

I've never been away anywhere without family or friendsa. I wouldn't travel alone even when I was younger and braver.

Yeah. I wouldn't recommended it now. My mum was just lucky in those days, it was relatively safe. No way she would allow me to do such a thing.

Going overseas has always been to visit relatives/family. The first time I caught a flight alone was strange. But I've always had someone pick me up.

Yeah, these days hitchhiking is too risky.

I've never been on a plane and I never want to. I guess whether visiting family is pleasure or not depends on the family.

Buses operate even more so, if the trains aren't operating. I've never tried interstate via rail. Only plane flights.

I'm sorry that you had a traumatic experience. A travellator is your best bet.

I have a friend who travels across country by train quite frequently, or did before the pandemic.

I usually just take the stairs.

I heard there's a choice of a microwave or oven to heat food before serving. Which is more ideal. If it's on a plane, they make it so hot before the flight, it takes a while for the steam to settle.

It's good exercise I suppose.

I wouldn't know, either way, never having travelled by plane or a train with sleeper cars the way my friend does.

In theory it is, but my bad knees and hips resent it. *grins*

Oh dear. That's why I thought of travellators, so you could just glide up or down.

They are individual lockable rooms, with one or two foul-out bunks and a small bathroom. Quite comfy, I've been told. You go to the dining car for meals.

The ones over here in Australia, sometimes bring meals to the passengers. But I guess if you travel alone it's nice to socialise with people in the dining car. Which some lone YouTubers may do. But I suppose that's limited at the moment because of Covid.
