Summary: Jack and Ianto are trying to catch an elusive alien.

A/N: Double drabble.
“Where did it go?” Ianto turned a slow circle; the alley was a dead end, with no way out other than the narrow entrance he and Jack had come through, practically on the alien’s heels.
“I don’t know.” Remembering a similar situation a couple of years earlier, Jack looked up, studying the walls by torchlight, just in case the creature they’d been chasing could climb, but there was no sign of it, and no windows it could have gone through.
“I can’t have just vanished.” Although the alley was littered with rubbish, as such places always seemed to be, the alien had been too big to hide under old newspapers, cardboard boxes, or a rusty abandoned bicycle. “The walls are solid brick; there’s nowhere it could’ve gone.”
“Maybe it can phase-shift through walls,” Jack suggested.
“If that’s the case, we’re never going to catch it.”
“Wouldn’t be much use if we did, the cells wouldn’t hold it,” Jack pointed out.
“Oh, thanks for that ray of sunshine.” Ianto checked his scanner, turning slowly. “Then again, maybe it’s just turned itself invisible.”
“Or it could be a shapeshifter.” Jack grabbed hold of the rusty bicycle. “Gotcha!”
The bicycle shimmered. “I surrender!”
