“Oooh, what’s this?” Jack reached for the basket of goodies standing beside the coffee machine, only to have his hand slapped away. He stood there pouting at Ianto’s back, for all the good that did, and rubbing his abused knuckles.


“Ow! What was that for?”


“To keep you from pilfering. I went to a lot of trouble getting that basket made up at the bakery, and it’s not for you.”


“It’s not?” To Jack that was unbelievable. “But it’s got some of my favourites in it!”


Ianto turned from getting the coffee machine going. “Everything sweet is one of your favourites; that doesn’t mean they’ve been chosen with you in mind. We owe Kathy and her people for their help dealing with that attempted invasion yesterday. I thought a basket of treats would be an appropriate gesture, showing that despite appearances to the contrary, we do actually appreciate the Cardiff police.”


“Couldn’t we just send them a nice thankyou card instead?”


“No. After risking life and limb the way they did they deserve a thank you that shows more thought than some generic card. Don’t you want to be on better terms with the police?”


Jack sighed. “I suppose so.”

There will probably be treats tucked away for Jack, but he's not getting them until Ianto has delivered the goodie basket.
