Double Drabble: Empty

Summary: Ianto feels he’s lost everything for the second time.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.




Lisa’s death had left Ianto with a hollow, empty feeling inside, as if everything he was, all his emotions, his hopes and dreams, his sense of purpose, and his whole future, had been sucked out, leaving him with nothing.


He’d dragged himself through the minutes, hours, days and weeks, a shell of his former self, thinking he would never feel anything good ever again, but then gradually the empty spaces inside him had begun to fill up again, thanks to Jack.


It had been as though he was coming back to life, learning to hope again, to feel, and maybe even to love. He’d tentatively begun to believe that maybe the future wasn’t as bleak and cold as he’d thought. How could it be with Jack in it? Jack was more vibrantly alive than anyone Ianto had ever known.


But now Jack was gone too, he’d just up and left without a word of goodbye, and the cold, hollow, empty feeling was back. Ianto was adrift again, anchorless, alone, and this time there would be no warm, comforting presence to cling to, no one to help him push back against the sense of hopelessness.


He might never feel whole again.

Another tragic loss for Ianto. He has no way of knowing that Jack will come back for him, and that happiness will follow

But he will pick himself up and carry on, because the team needs him. He will get his reward on Jack's return.
