Summary: Jack wants to get Ianto something special for his birthday.

A/N: Double drabble.




Ianto’s birthday was only a little over a month away, and Jack wanted to get him something special. He’d set out armed with his credit card to scour the shops for the perfect gift and had so far come up empty.


It wasn’t even that Ianto was particularly hard to buy for. He liked good chocolates, a bottle of his favourite tipple, and a nice suit or some shirts always went down well, but none of those things seemed good enough for someone who had beaten the odds and not only made it to thirty while working for Torchwood, but also managed to become immortal.


Jack wanted to make this birthday a really special celebration, to show Ianto how happy he was that he’d never have to lose the man he loved. What would say that best? Jewellery perhaps.


Three hours later, after visiting every jeweller in Cardiff, Jack still had nothing to show for his shopping spree.


Maybe he could take Ianto on a romantic vacation instead, a tropical island paradise, with palm trees and endless sandy beaches.


By the time he arrived back at the Hub, all Jack had bought was a birthday card. He’d try again tomorrow.
