Camera phones had to be one of the most useful inventions ever, Ianto thought as he snapped off a shot of the newest Rift arrival, a squat greenish-grey cylinder, and sent it to Jack’s phone.

“Any ideas?”

Jack opened the photo and pulled a face. “Unfortunately, yes. Keep a close eye on it but whatever you do, don’t touch it. After its journey through the Rift it could be unstable; the slightest movement might set it off. I’m on my way.”

“It’s that dangerous?”

“Let’s just say it has the potential to be. If it’s a dud then we have nothing to worry about. If it’s live… Well, we should just be thankful it arrived where it did. That building’s scheduled for demolition next week anyway. I don’t suppose too many people will care if it comes down a bit early.”

“Wonderful. So I’m stuck babysitting a bomb until you get here? How long?”

“Ten minutes at most.”

“What should I look out for while I’m waiting?”

“If it starts to vibrate and make a whining sound, get out as fast as you can.”

“Duly noted.”

Jumping into the SUV, Jack gunned the engine.

“I really hope it’s a dud!”

The End

Ianto hopes so too. At least Jack can deal with it without permanent harm. Thanks for the story info. Really enjoyed and have saved it. I think I'll read it often
