Summary: How are the team going to get the latest Rift Gift back from the person who found it?

“Oh, that’s just perfect!”


Ianto could understand Jack’s annoyance. The Rift alert had sounded barely ten minutes ago, and the team had made all haste to retrieve whatever had come through, but they’d arrived at the coordinates just in time to see a woman pick the shiny object up off the ground and slip it in her pocket. It was obviously the item they were looking for because nobody was likely to drop something so obviously valuable without noticing.


“Now what’re we gonna do?” Owen demanded.


“Distract her and I’ll get it back,” Jack said confidently.


“Good at picking pockets, are you?”


“I used to be a conman; I’ve done it all.”


“I’ve got a better idea, Jack; you distract her, and I’ll pick her pocket.” Ianto limbered up his fingers.


“You realise you’re all talking about stealing.” Gwen clearly wasn’t happy. “That’s illegal. I should know.”


“How can it be stealing to take something that doesn’t belong to her anyway? We’re just… confiscating it. We don’t even know what it is. It could be dangerous; her life might be at risk.”


“Couldn’t we just tell her that and ask for it back?”


Jack snorted. “Where’s the fun in that?”

Silly Gwen, giving away information. Jack would be good at distracting. and Ianto is sneaky enough to get the object
