Double Drabble: Warm Welcome

Summary: Ianto finds his bad mood evaporating once he arrives home.

A/N: Double drabble.




Ianto had endured the day from Hell at work. There’d been a relatively minor invasion attempt that had needed squashing, a phone call from an irate government official about something that had nothing to do with Torchwood, which he’d tried repeatedly to explain, to no avail, a rash of unexplained rashes that Owen had eventually traced to a small and innocuous plant in the hothouse, and no less than three Weevils dancing in the rain.


Arriving home tired, cold, damp, and cranky, he’d let himself into the flat wanting nothing more than to sit down with a stiff drink, and instead had been ambushed by kids and Fluffs, swarming over him, wanting hugs and kisses, and to tell him about their day.


Trying to fend them off long enough to take off his coat and shoes, Ianto found himself smiling, the pressures and stresses of the long day melting away. He scooped up a twin under each arm, and with Meriel bounding ahead and the Fluffs following, made his way down to the living room, collapsing onto the sofa to the accompaniment of laughter and excited hums.


There was nothing better than a warm welcome home to brighten his day.
