A/N: Double drabble.




“This is ridiculous!” Ianto stood clinging to a tree in order to stay upright. “It’s supposed to be spring!”


“Tell me about it!” A few yards away, Jack was clinging to a lamppost. “I didn’t think it was cold enough for this though.”


The snow earlier in the month had been bad enough, but now the streets seemed to be coated with a film of black ice, making them treacherous to walk on.


Ianto frowned. “That’s a good point. I checked the forecast earlier and it said the temperature shouldn’t be lower than seven Celsius, that’s far too warm for ice.”


“But if it’s not black ice, then what is it?”


“Good question, and I’m not entirely sure I want to know the answer.”


Jack gingerly crouched down and touched the slick paving slabs with one bare finger, immediately jerking it back and shaking his hand.


“It’s freezing! Nearly took the skin off my finger!” Straightening up, Jack tucked his hand under his arm to warm it. “Definitely ice, but the cold air seems to be in a layer less than half an inch deep. Weird.”


“Rift weather.” Ianto sighed heavily. “How far does it spread?”


“We’d better find out.”

I want to know the answer too. I'm sure They'll work it out quickly and deal with it

First they ned to find out how far the effect extends, then they need to melt the ice and keep it from re-forming. Then they can try to find the cause.
