Double Drabble: Black Day

Summary: The Torchwood team are dealing with the aftermath of a tragedy.

A/N: Double drabble.




Jack was in a black mood, and Ianto didn’t blame him; he wasn’t exactly feeling sunny today either. Nobody was. Senseless brutality had that effect on them.


An alien had fallen through the Rift, a peaceful, civilised, perfectly harmless citizen of a distant planet, ripped from their homeworld by chance and dumped in the middle of Cardiff, just as the bars and clubs had been closing. If they’d arrived at any other time, or in any other part of the city, the alien would have probably been fine, but as it was…


By the time Jack and Ianto had reached the coordinates of the Rift spike, having been slowed down by a car accident that had blocked the street, the innocent, defenceless alien had already been under attack from a drunken mob. They’d gone to the rescue, fighting the attackers off, intimidating them by shoving their guns in their faces and threatening to shoot them, but although the alien had still been alive when they’d reached the Hub, despite Owen’s best efforts the poor being hadn’t survived.


Now Owen was slamming about in the autopsy bay and Jack was brooding in his office. It was a black day for Torchwood.

Yes that must be so hard for them. They can do what they must with the dangerous ones, but take it hard when they can't save the innocents. Unfortunately too many humans react like that to anything different
