Summary: The British weather has been causing problems for Torchwood too.

A/N: Inspired by the weather here.

It had been a tough few days, the Rift as unsettled as the weather. Multiple Rift spikes had sent the team out into torrential rain and gale force winds countless times, retrieving everything from broken alien toasters to unstable explosive devices and an invasion attempt by lizard-like aliens which failed miserably because being cold-blooded, they hadn’t the energy to fight.

The Rift had finally settled sometime during the night while the waterlogged team were trying to get dry. Now, as dawn broke over the bay, Ianto smiled as a ray of sunlight pierced the clouds. Torchwood had weathered the storm.

What a wonderful "word painting" of Torchwood and Rift environment. The weather seems to match Torchwood; things get a little rough in the corse of cases but they always come thru at the end.

It's sheer stubborn determination at times, but they get things done because they know they have to.

It would be just like the Rift to throw everything at them when the weather is at its worst

That's the weather we've been getting lately though, I guess life is imitating Torchwood, which is not good. There have been more flood warnings across half the country over the last few days.

We had some heavy rain on the US west coast over the weekend, although I'm sure it wasn't as bad as what you were getting. Hope you're staying dry. *hugs*

This morning started out with pouring rain, then turned to snow. Then the skies cleared, we had blustery winds and sunshine. Now the sun has gone down and it's pouring with rain again. I'm staying indoors. we're lucky not to live in a flood area, but a lot of people have had to be evacuated in the worst-hit places.

That's true - we could really use some sunshine here to dry things out a bit.

I love watching storms and seeing the sun come out afterwards, when everything is still wet, washed clean by the rain, but right now I don't want any more rain, we've had more than enough.
