Summary: What could be better than lazing by the fire on a cold day?
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: For mahmfic’s prompt ‘Fire’
Ianto sighed contentedly. Nothing beat a roaring fire on a bitterly cold day. While howling winds drove sheets of rain against the windows, he and Jack were snug and warm, basking in the flickering glow of the flames, soft music playing in the background.
Leaning back against Jack’s chest, a thought occurred to Ianto.
“You know what would make this even better?”
“Both of us being naked?”
Tilting his head back, Ianto peered at his lover.
“Actually I was thinking about hot buttered toast, cooked over the fire.”
“Toast is good. Can we be naked after?”
“I’ll consider it.”

Date: 2014-02-02 03:41 pm (UTC)Jack's 'nekkid is good' mentality reminds me of a lot of soldiers: my son is always commenting on being that way very often. I wonder if it's something to do with what they go thru in training and warfare? Because we are sharing an apartment (NY is damned EXPENSIVE!), he'll wail till I'm gone to strip down at least to his underwear (don't wanna scare the neighbors) to ramble around the place or walk around in his sweatpants, Tshirt and socks. Jack, first and foremost, has that soldier's mentality which I don't think the Doctor understands but Ianto does and that allows Jack to 'stand down' with Ianto in these lovely moments. Hope you'll have more of these :D You really had the loveliest one when Ianto took him sledding; I kept seeing that as a bead piece.

Date: 2014-02-02 03:58 pm (UTC)With Jack being from the future, I think attitudes are more relaxed anyway and being naked isn't seen as shameful. I'd imagine there's a sense of freedom when you're not constricted by clothes, and it feels natural to Jack.
I didn't know that about soldiers, but maybe it's in part a removal of their military persona and everything that goes with it, stripping down to who they are when they're not being military. With Ianto, Jack can remove his 'captain' persona and just be Jack, not the head of Torchwood.
