A/N: Double drabble.
“This be Torchwood, yis?”
The voice startled Ianto, mainly because he had no idea where it was coming from.
He’d just opened the tourist office for business, something he tried to do for an hour or two each day, even in winter when there were very few tourists around, and he’d propped the door open a few inches to air the place out. It was smelling a bit musty thanks to the recent wet weather and some minor flooding. Although it was cold, the brisk breeze was nice and fresh.
“Um, who’s there?”
“Is we!”
Leaning forward, Ianto peered over the edge of the counter. On the floor at the other side were arrayed twelve small, fuzzy beings.
“Ah, hello.”
“Greetings! Is Torchwood?”
They were obviously aliens, and they appeared friendly enough, so what could be the harm in admitting it?
“That’s right. What can we do for you?”
“Thirteen be lost. We come, looksee earth. We good, much care. Thirteen smallest of litter, silly fool, always been. One turn round, see only Two through Twelve. Thirteen gone. Help find?”
“Yes, of course; I’ll get the rest of the team.”
Clearly earth wasn’t the only place Thirteen was considered unlucky.
