Summary: It’s Meriel’s thirteenth birthday.

A/N: Double drabble.
Waking up on her thirteenth birthday, Meriel was disappointed to realise she didn’t feel any different. She was excited because it was her birthday, and birthdays always meant a special breakfast, presents, birthday treats and a cake, but she didn’t feel older.
Of course she’d never felt noticeably older on any of her previous birthdays, but yesterday she’d been twelve, still a kid, and today she was thirteen and a teenager. That was only one step away from being a grownup. She’d have thought something would have changed, but it hadn’t.
Seeing that she was awake, Nosy piled on top of her, humming excitedly, breaking Meriel out of her vague dissatisfaction. She laughed as she wrestled with her best friend, getting the bed covers all tangled. That was okay though; she could straighten everything out when she got up, which she would, in just a few minutes. It was Saturday so there was no school, which meant she could have a little longer in bed if she wanted.
Her daddies were probably already up, her presents piled on the coffee table in the lounge, but there was no need to rush.
Meriel smiled. Maybe she did feel older after all.
