Summary: The Rift has brought Torchwood a new toy that Jack just has to try out.

A/N: Double drabble.
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” Ianto asked, watching Jack uncertainly.
Jack gave an exasperated sigh. “What have I said about giving me the benefit of the doubt? You didn’t think I could lasso that muffrit either, you laughed at me when I told you what I was going to do, but you saw what happened. I caught it first try.”
“You did, but that was different. How much experience, exactly, do you have with a boomerang?”oHHH
“Okay, so not as much as with a lasso, but they’re very similar to the throwing sticks used by the Giffgaws of Merlux Major. It’s the same principle. You hold it like this, throw it, and it comes back to you. It’s as easy as falling off a log.”
So saying, Jack gripped the boomerang that had just come through the Rift, stepped up on a fallen tree trunk so he’d be above the undergrowth, and threw.
The boomerang flew through the air in a wide arc and returned to his hand.
“OW!”

Everyone looked up as Jack slouched through the Hub, wet, muddy, and scowling.
“What happened to Jack?” Gwen asked.
Ianto rolled his eyes. “He fell off a log.”
