Title: It's All Relative
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Rory, Amy, River, Eleventh Doctor.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 461: Family at [livejournal.com profile] dw100.
Spoilers: General for the Eleventh Doctor / Ponds era.
Summary: Rory muses on his unlikely family.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

Family has never been more confusing, and yet Rory is totally okay with it because if he and Amy are only going to be blessed with one kid, the one they have is brave, beautiful, confident, well educated, and brilliant. What’s not to love?

Okay, so aside from being a professor of archaeology she’s also a career criminal, and thanks to time travel is now older than her parents, but she’s their flesh and blood. Anyone would be proud to have River Song for a daughter.

Having a centuries old alien for a son-in-law is where it gets really complicated.

Yes. I never bought into the whole "raising Mel" bit. They didn't know she was their daughter at the time.

According to Wikipedia: "P.S.", a mini shows-episode supplement based on the original script for this episode, shows that Rory and Amy adopted a son, in 1946, and named him Anthony Brian Williams.

They made do with their fate. At least to care for a child that needed a loving home.

It's as close to a picture perfect ending for The Ponds, as it could get I suppose. Yeah. If only all children in the fostering system could get the same treatment.

Yeah. The Ponds were conflicted about leaving the Doctor on a permanent basis. So, the choice was made for them eventually. But they still had a life together.
