Summary: Ryo is tired and not thinking as clearly as he should.

A/N: Double drabble.




Ryo was standing in front of the elevator doors, waiting patiently and looking half asleep when Dee joined him, checking to see what floor the elevator was currently on.


Their shift should have been over a couple of hours ago, but they’d been stuck at a crime scene on the top floor of one of the city’s smaller office buildings, doing what they could to gather evidence while waiting for the coroner and a crime scene unit, both of whom had been delayed because of heavy traffic. Now they were heading back to the precinct to clock off before going home, but the elevator wasn’t moving. Dee nudged his partner’s shoulder.


“You did push the button, right? You know, to call the elevator?”


“Huh?” Ryo squinted at the buttons on the wall. “Oh. I wondered why it was taking so long.” Reaching out, he stabbed the call button and the numbered lights above the door began to blink, one after another, as the elevator started upwards.


Dee snorted. “You’d’ve been standin’ there starin’ at the door all night if I wasn’t here.”


“Probably,” Ryo agreed with a wry smile. “I knew I was forgetting something, just couldn’t figure out what.”
