Double Drabble: Punishment

Characters: Ianto, Jack, Kids, Nosy.

Written For: Challenge 630: Naughty at

Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Who’s really in charge of discipline in the Harkness-Jones family?
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Discipline in the Harkness-Jones household was not easy to maintain. With four kids and his husband to keep in line, Ianto often felt like the only adult. He loved his family, but most of them could be wilful, the kids having inherited Jack’s stubborn streak.
In some ways, Jack was the easiest to punish; if he was naughty he knew he’d be served decaf of the cheapest, nastiest kind.
Except for Meriel, who was usually reasonably well behaved these days anyway, the kids weren’t old enough to drink coffee so the threat of decaf didn’t work on them. Instead, bad behaviour was punished with the loss of their allowance, the confiscation of a favourite toy, no dessert, or no TV; whichever was the most likely to disappoint the one being punished.
Ianto hated being the family disciplinarian, but someone had to take on the unwelcome task and it was never going to be Jack, who was far too lenient.
In the end though, Ianto suspected the punishments he handed out were less effective than being on the receiving end of the family Fluff’s disapproval. Nosy had a way of making the naughty ones feel the full weight of their guilt.
