A/N: Triple drabble.
So much for Buffy’s new start in a new town. First there was the weird school librarian, shoving books on vampire lore at her when all she wanted was the textbooks for her classes. Then there was the dead boy with two puncture wounds in his neck, shoved into a gym locker, and now this!
She hasn’t even had a chance to settle into her new home, her new school, check out the local teen hangouts, and she’s already being stalked by a tall, brooding guy, who gives her a cryptic, doom-laden warning, throws her a small box, and saunters off into the shadows.
Inside the box is a silver cross on a chain. It’s completely plain, no fancy engraving or anything, but it looks expensive.
What’s the deal about Sunnydale? Why is there some complete stranger sneaking around in dark alleys to give random girls protective jewellery? Although, the way mystery guy spoke he somehow knows she’s the Slayer. How? Did someone send out a memo, and if so, why didn’t anyone tell her? Doesn’t she have a right to know?
Buffy looks down at the cross again, gleaming softly in its box, and shrugs. It’s pretty, and it could come in handy, so she takes it out and puts it on; she’s not about to toss the gift away just because she doesn’t know the guy who gave it to her. That would be… rude, and wasteful, and anyway, he said he was a friend. With all the weirdness she’s seen in the last day or so, maybe she could use one of those, and maybe she should take his warning seriously. What was it he’d said?
“You’re standing at the Mouth of Hell, and it’s about to open.”
Maybe she should ask Mr. Giles about that.
