Spoilers: Mummy on the Orient Express.
Summary: Clara makes up her mind to quit travelling with the Doctor.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.




Achieving some kind of balance in her life was causing Clara no end of problems; this new incarnation of the Doctor seemed unable to understand the concept of her having a personal life, something other than travelling with him whenever he wanted her company.


She had a job, and a boyfriend, but the way the Doctor behaved it was as if he considered such things a personal inconvenience. He’d show up, any time of the day or night, expecting her to drop everything and go with him.


Something had to change; she’d take one last trip then she was done.

It was in the heat of the moment. I found it abrupt that Clara was instantly back with the Doctor after being so upset in the previous episode. A scene left to be written as a fanfic story.

If Clara couldn't be honest with Danny, that was a sign things weren't going to end well.

Well lying is not a good foundation for any relationship. It's just another level of unfairness that Danny died. Especially in the way he did.

He even sacrificed an opportunity to come back. What exactly happened to that kid anyway's?

Who knows, there are a lot of loose ends in Doctor Who.

Oh well, he was only used as a plot device for Danny's guilt. The latter survived being a soldier, but died as a civilian. Not that theres actually a good choice.:(

He wouldn't be the only soldier not to have survived civilian life. They don't have an easy time adjusting.

True. They suffer PTSD. I don't understand how there seems to be no support system for when they come back from the war. I mean, any kind of traumatic event is hard to overcome.

The Ninth Doctor just came from the Time War. The Doctor carried those bad memories with every generation.

I know, it's dreadful, and they get a lot of abuse from civilians too.

I don't understand the abuse. It really baffles me. This is an example of why empathy is so important.

Exactly. It's one of the injustices in this world that really should stop. Trauma should never be underestimated.

Unfortunately true. Although I've seen on shows like Leverage where they address the situation. It's a small step to raising awareness.
