Summary: Owen’s ‘scientific experiment’ is doomed to failure.

A/N: Double drabble.




Entering the vaults to carry out the next task on his long list of daily chores, Ianto found Owen already there, standing outside the cell housing a young male Weevil that had been brought in a couple of days earlier. He was tapping on the thick Plexiglas barrier with one hand, and brandishing a bloody sliver of meat in the other.


“Don’t tease the Weevils, Owen,” Ianto admonished, dumping his bucket and mop on the floor. “It makes them cranky and I need them calm while I clean out their cells.”


“I’m not teasing them; I’m carrying out important scientific experiments.”


“Really?” Ianto sounded sceptical. “And what exactly are you trying to prove with your ‘experiment’?”


“I reckon this one’s deaf; it doesn’t react when I tap on the glass. Either that or it’s sick. It’s not showin’ any interest in this.” He waved the meat at Ianto, who rolled his eyes.


“Wrong on both counts.”


“How would you know? Who’s the medic around here?”


“I’m beginning to wonder. I fed the inmates half an hour ago so none of them are hungry right now, and I put a sedative in that one’s chow so he’d be easier to handle.”

Owen was at least trying to do some work. He should remember to consult Ianto when it comes to the inmates. He knows more than Owen does, as he mostly deals with them.
