A/N: Double drabble.
The Rift had dropped some bizarre things on Cardiff over the decades, Ianto could attest to that; he was still trying to sort and classify the vast array of items in Torchwood’s archives, but as far as he knew, they’d never received a safe before. He stood, hands on hips, staring at it, wondering how to get it back to Hub. It wasn’t particularly large, maybe eighteen inches each way, and two feet tall, but it was much too heavy for two people to lift; he’d almost put his back out when he and Jack tried.
It looked like something you’d see in a Western, the kind of safe that sat in the corner of the bank manager’s office for the armed bandits to blow up before escaping with the loot.
“Maybe if we empty it first,” Jack suggested. “What d’you think is inside? Gold?”
“I’ve no idea, but it’s got one of those combination locks, and cracking safes isn’t in my skill set.”
“No problem; I’ve got this!” Jack indicated his VM. In moments he had the safe open, revealing bundles of paper money. “We’re rich!”
Ianto snorted. “Don’t get your hopes up; I doubt it’s legal tender anymore.”
