A/N: Double drabble.

Ianto had long suspected Jack would leave someday, just from what he’d found and read in the archives. Jack was waiting for the Time Lord known as the Doctor, the alien Torchwood London had considered public enemy number one for the most spurious of reasons, and when the Doctor finally returned to earth Jack would no doubt choose to go with him. Who wouldn’t, given the opportunity to travel through space and time?

He just hadn’t thought Jack’s departure would be so soon, or so sudden. He’d thought there would be more time, and at the very least a proper goodbye. Instead, Jack had been drained of life by a monstrous demon, had spent three days essentially dead before reviving, kissed Ianto in front of all his colleagues, and… vanished. No goodbye, no “I’ll see you soon”, not even a note.

All he left behind was a wrecked Hub, a group of people all wallowing in varying degrees of guilt over the stupidity of their actions, and a lot of questions. How long would Jack be gone? Was he ever planning on coming back? What was the team supposed to do now?

They’d just have to carry on without him.
