Double Drabble: Handy

Summary: The Rift has delivered something that’s actually going to be quite handy.

A/N: Double drabble.




Peculiar things fell through the Rift all the time, and nine times out of ten no one had a clue what they were, not even Jack. It usually took research and careful study to properly categorise what they were gifted with, and that meant letting Tosh do what she did best.


This strange monstrosity, however, had Jack practically bouncing with glee the moment he caught sight of it when Ianto carried it into the Hub. It looked like four handles with comfortable moulded grips, each equipped with a number of controls, and joined together in the middle.


“What’s so great about a thing with four handles?” Owen wanted to know. He’d been the one to find it.


“They’re not handles,” Jack beamed. “They’re anti-gravity clamps! Here…”


Jack removed the thing from the containment box, did something to it, and it separated into four. Taking one by the handle he approached Ianto.


“Now, all I have to do is this…” Jack manipulated the controls, pressed the clamp’s flat surface against Ianto’s chest, and with no apparent effort, lifted him one-handed. “With these we can easily carry anything, no matter how heavy it is,” and he carted Ianto off to his office.

A very useful Rift Gift. Great for transporting weevils, or anything heavy. Trust Jack to put it to use with Ianto, who will be happy to let Jack have his fun.

Ianto will no doubt protest about being carried around like that, because he wouldn't want the rest of the team to get the wrong idea, but I doubt that he really minds. The clamps are going to be really helpful.
