Characters: Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Setting: After the manga.
Summary: Some days you just can’t win.
Written Using: The tw100 prompt ‘Break’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
“Dabbit!” Dee mumbled, his voice muffled from both of his hands being clasped over his face. “Tought I’d already brogen ebrydin’ dere was do break.”
Ryo winced in sympathy as he steered his partner into the ER. He was in better shape than Dee, but not by much.
“Could’ve been worse.” His own scalp wound was still bleeding and there was probably blood all over the interior of their unmarked car, not just from the cut above Ryo’s ear but from Dee’s broken nose as well. “It could’ve run right over us.”
Turned out that runaway parade floats were a serious health hazard; two people had been left with broken legs, another with internal injuries, and twenty or so with cracked ribs, cuts and bruises when the accelerator had jammed and the float had surged into a crowd of spectators. Dee had been slammed face first into a wall as people tried to get out of the float’s path while Ryo had been hit by a flying piece of metal when it crashed.
Dee mumbled something about putting in for hazard pay. “I egspeged ta ged shod at, bud dis id unvair.”
Ryo agreed; they hadn’t even been on duty!
