Spoilers: Time of the Doctor.
Summary: The Doctor is grumpy about his new body.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.
He has wrinkles! And grey hair! It’s quite appalling; he hasn’t looked this old since his first regeneration. Even at the end of his previous regeneration, after living such a long, long time in the same body, he hadn’t looked this old. Had he? It was hard to remember, he’d mostly only seen his reflection in Handles’ shiny surface and it was always a bit distorted.
But he doesn’t want to look old, because he’s not old, not for a Time Lord. That’s the trouble with regeneration; it never takes his preferences into account, just gives him any old body!

Thank you!

Date: 2020-08-24 04:51 am (UTC)There are some actors who've played numerous background characters on Doctor Who, only the most rabid fans really have noticed and made lists. And then there are a small handful who have played memorable characters as a one off, and then came back to play a regular cast member.
Jacqueline Hill, Billie Piper & Tom Baker did it backwards, and were regular main cast members who came back years later to play a totally different character.
The U.K.'s history of re-using actors on long running TV programs is partially the following
1. the small pool of talent
2. the head of casting has no long term memory
3. the head of casting isn't the same person
4. whoever is in charge of casting thinks the viewers are too dumb to notice
5. the director/head honcho insists on this particular actor.
6. they think it's been long enough that no one will remember them being on the show before as a different character.
