Title: Fiasco
Fandom: BtVS
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Principal Snyder.
Rating: PG
Setting: The Puppet Show.
Summary: Buffy and her friends are conscripted into the school talent show.
Word Count: 200
Written For: Challenge 151: Part Prompts Revisited at
anythingdrabble, using Challenge 145: Dramatic.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BTVS, or the characters. They belong to Joss Whedon.
A/N: Double drabble.
Performing a dramatic scene is mostly Willow’s idea since the three of them don’t actually have any talents, or at least not anything that would go down too well in front of the parents, teachers, and other students who’ll make up the audience for the annual talentless show. Willow’s computer skills aren’t exactly riveting entertainment, and slaying a vampire on stage is out, for obvious reasons. As for playing piano in front of an audience… Willow gets stage fright even thinking about it.
So, dramatic scene; how hard can it be? Just stand there and recite lines. Who cares if they suck? They’re being forced into this against their will. So they start rehearsing, learning their lines, and they do indeed suck. Figures.
This is Sunnydale High, however, where even something as relatively straightforward as a school talent show can’t be expected to go as planned. The only good thing is that the curtain was still closed during the actual killing of the demon, but it’s still hard to imagine how they’re going to explain this to Principal Snyder. Maybe Giles can handle that.
But the worst part of the whole fiasco is they still have to perform their act.
The End

Stage Theater Class Assignment.
Date: 2020-09-21 02:30 am (UTC)I heard from a teacher of my own that students tend to be stricter when evaluating themselves than the teacher is... and this is definitely one of my favorite scenes thus far that I've read of these stand-alone scenes you've got here.
Well-made, Badly-Knitted!
