Title: Unlucky Break
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto, Jack
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 615: Break at [livejournal.com profile] tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Jack is injured while dealing with a hostile alien.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.

Lowering his weapon, Ianto ignored the body of the dead alien and knelt beside Jack, lying crumpled on the stage of the Sherman Theatre having fallen from the catwalks overhead.

“When I told you to break a leg, I didn’t mean literally. It’s supposed to ward off bad luck when someone’s going on stage.”

Jack’s breath hissed through gritted teeth as Ianto straightened his legs, aligning the bones as best he could so they’d knit together properly.

“I wasn’t on the stage, I was sort of above it.”

“You’d have been better off if you’d stayed down here.”

“Someone had to flush that thing out of its hiding place.” Jack turned his head to look at the bat-like creature a short distance away. It had killed three of the theatre’s staff before Torchwood had managed to stop it; safe to say it wasn’t friendly.

“You could’ve broken your neck,” Ianto chided.

“Wish I had; then I’d have died and come back in one piece. Would’ve been a damn sight quicker than waiting for broken bones to heal.”

Maybe it was selfish of Ianto, but he was glad Jack hadn’t died. Waiting for him to revive was always the worst part.

The End

A sad fact that it's easier for Jack if he dies, but so much harder for Ianto. They do what they must
