Summary: It’s Christmas, and the Rift is apparently in a giving mood…

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: Part 8 of ‘The Twelve Days of Riftmas’. I wasn’t happy with my first attempt, it was a bit on the bland side, so I tried again. I like this one better, but I’m posting my first attempt here too, so you guys can decide which one you prefer.

The Seventh Day…

On the eighth day of Christmas, eight large cows were discovered in the Millennium Stadium. Ianto thought they certainly looked ready for milking. Not that he was an expert on cows or anything…

“Oh look!” said Jack cheerfully. “The Rift almost got it right this time!”

“Yes, Jack, because eight ready-to-milk cows are just what we needed.” Ianto rolled his eyes so hard they nearly fell out. “What am I supposed to do with them?”

“Call a farmer?”

“I was hoping for buxom milkmaids,” Owen grouched.

Ianto sank into a seat. It was entirely possible he was losing his mind.

Alternate Eighth Day…

On the eighth day of Christmas, several crates appeared in a car park.

They had writing on them.

“Maiden’s Milk? What’s that? Some sort of booze?” Owen sounded hopeful.

Prising a crate open, Ianto pulled out a bottle.

“Sorry to disappoint you, Owen, it’s bath oil. ‘You too can have skin as soft as a maiden’s’,” he intoned solemnly. “You should try some.”

“Bite me!”

Ianto smirked.

“Right, let’s load ‘em. Hold on.” He glanced around. “There’s only seven. Where’s the eighth?”

They found it in a ditch, half buried in mud.

“Oh joy,” groaned Ianto. “The Rift hates me!”

TBC in ‘The Ninth Day…

Snarky Ianto is one of my favorite things. Especially when Owen is the one getting snarked at.

I think it's because Ianto's is always so unexpected. Owen you really expect to be snarky.

I think everyone should have an inner Ianto. :) I don't have anyone snarking in my head, but one of my novel characters likes to nag me. He's good about medicine reminders, so I don't mind it a bit. :)

Ianto talking about the phones not working is probably my favorite bit of all time.

I love him so much. :) More than Jack most of the time.

My inner Ianto tends to be more polite than anything else. I think my grandma will approve of that part next time I see her. She's really big on manners and proper talking.

Maybe he'll start for you. :) I don't know what I'd do without Joe. He's such a help.

Both brilliant, but I think prefer the second one :-)

I like them both, but the image of 8 confused cows with full udders wandering around the Millennium Stadium looking for someone to milk them really tickles my funny bone!

Oh, I like both!

I'm just feeling so sorry for Ianto at this point. The Rift better make it up to him!

This made me LOL: "Ianto thought they certainly looked ready for milking. Not that he was an expert on cows or anything…"

I don't think I want to know how he determined that. :-p

Poor Ianto. Four more days to go!

(I liked the bath oil one too, but as it's less of a pain in the arse for our favorite Tea Boy to deal with, resulting in less eye-rolling and snarking, it's not quite as amusing. :-p It was very clever, though!)

I think they're both pretty funny. Either way poor Ianto's barely holding it together. *giggles*
