A/N: Quadruple drabble.
Ryo stared at Dee across the breakfast table. “A drive-in movie? Are you serious?”
“What, you’ve never been to one?” Dee grinned. “Ya don’t know what you’re missin’.”
“No. I mean yes, of course I have, but that was years ago. I thought they’d gone out of fashion.”
“Well yeah, in most places they have, but there’s gonna be one in Central Park for a few weeks and if it does well, maybe it’ll become a regular thing. First one’s gonna be Saturday night so whaddaya say? You wanna go?”
“What movie’s showing?”
Dee rolled his eyes. “What does it matter? It’s just gonna be background noise. The whole purpose of a drive-in is to snuggle and make out; they’re way better for that than a regular movie theatre. More room in a car than in those cramped seats with the armrests gettin’ in the way.
“But we’d be in public!” Ryo could feel his face heating up at the thought.
“We’ll be in a car, in the dark, parked among other cars, with every other couple doin’ exactly the same thing. No one’s gonna be lookin’. Besides, what’s wrong with a bit of smoochin’?”
“Well, as long as it’s just kissing I guess that would be okay.”
“Yay! You won’t regret it!”
Saturday night they pulled into the drive-in and found a place to park, hooking the speakers in the part-open windows of Dee’s car. They had sodas and plenty of popcorn, and the movie was a classic. Ryo was looking forward to seeing it, but Dee was more interested in Ryo than the movie, sliding closer as the opening credits rolled, draping his arm around Ryo’s shoulders and nibbling on his ear.
Fifteen minutes in, Ryo was forced to abandon any hope of watching the movie; Dee was way too distracting. Even the popcorn was sitting on the dashboard, ignored, as they steamed up the windscreen so they couldn’t have seen much even if they’d been paying attention.
Maybe Dee was right; drive-ins were ideal for make-out sessions, even at their age. Snuggling together in the flickering light of the movie screen, lost in a long, sensuous kiss, the rest of the world might just as well not have existed, and when Dee’s hands inevitably started wandering Ryo did nothing to stop him.
If he wanted to see the movie, looked like he’d have to rent the DVD.
