Jun. 21st, 2020 06:48 pmTitle: Little White Lie
Fandom: FAKE
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Chief Smith, Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 197: A Good Reason at
drabble_weekly.
Spoilers/Setting: After Like Like Love.
Summary: Dee and Ryo are late for work, but do they have an acceptable excuse?
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
The Chief was not in a good mood.
“Well, look who’s finally here! It’s about time you two showed up. You’d better have a good reason for dragging your sorry asses in halfway through your shift!”
He was exaggerating; they were only maybe forty-five minutes late, but telling the old badger that wouldn’t win them any points.
“Yes, Sir, we do,” Dee said, his mind racing as he tried to think of an excuse that would wash. “Probably.”
“Well? What is it?”
“It was my fault, Sir,” Ryo said sheepishly. “I took the files on the Cavanagh homicide home last night, something’s been nagging at me and I thought maybe if I kept looking at the crime scene photos I might figure out what it was, but then I left them spread out on the coffee table. We were halfway here before I remembered, so we had to go back for them, and then we got stuck in traffic.”
The last part was at least the truth, and Ryo really had taken the files home the previous night, but the rest…
He could hardly tell their boss they were late because his horny partner had ambushed him in the shower!
