Double Drabble: Soothing Influence

Title: Soothing Influence

Summary: When you’re upset there’s nothing more calming than a Fluff.

A/N: Double drabble.




They’d arrived back at the Hub feeling frazzled and exhausted after a rough mission, tracking down a group of aliens hunting humans for ‘sport’.


On the plus side, none of those aliens would be going home with their ‘trophies’; the ones the team hadn’t been forced to kill were now locked in separate cells awaiting the justice of the Shadow Proclamation. Sadly, Torchwood hadn’t been able to save all of the people being hunted; two innocent lives had been lost, which was enough to bring anyone down.


Jack was blaming himself of course; he should have acted faster, should have figured out what was going on sooner… The weight of failure was heavy on his shoulders.


“You did everything you could have,” Ianto said wearily, slumping down on the sofa beside his lover. “We all did. With a population the size of Cardiff, working out which ten people were being targeted and saving them all was never going to be possible.”


“I know that,” Jack snapped. He might have continued yelling, taking his frustrations out on someone who didn’t deserve it, but a strange sense of calm swept over him.


“Hummmmm,” Nosy said soothingly.


Jack relaxed. They’d done their best.
