Title: Bloody Gorgeous
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Donna Noble, Jack Harkness.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 405: Retro at [livejournal.com profile] dw100.
Spoilers: The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End.
Summary: Who is this gorgeous stranger? Donna wants to know.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

Donna has no idea who this guy is, he just showed up out of nowhere and sort of took charge, getting everyone into the TARDIS, but he’s bloody gorgeous! The outfit he’s got on looks a bit dated, like something out of a Word War II movie, so maybe he’s an actor; he’s got the looks for it. Whatever, he’s rocking the retro look, especially that coat. She wouldn’t turn him down. Shame they’re a bit busy right now, what with the Daleks and everything.

Still, maybe when this is all over and the earth is back where it belongs…

The End

Shame he wouldn't give her a hug, though. Some of us have our theories....

The Doctor Said "J-a-a-ack".

Which was Time Lord for "Don't even think about it, or I will superglue you to 20 shellless Daleks, 15 Sontarans, 10 Rutons, 3 Drashrigs & a Judoon; after I borrow the Master's TCE to shrink your bits to itty-bitty-bits."

As for loyalty to Ianto as was commented elsewhere... Jack hugged everyone else with no problem, so why no hug specifically for Donna? I'm not so sure she was angling for anything but a hug..

He's said that before, and Jack hugged Rose. I think it was the look that accompanied it that said so much more. Poor Donna, though, she was unaware and took it personally.

Martha: Everybody else has got a go.

Why not Donna?*looks at RTD*

Technically DoctorDonna got a hug from Jack.

Yeah.

The Doctor doesn't like it when Jack flirts with any of his companions.

Tenth Doctor: You might be out there, somewhere.
Jack: I could go meet myself.
Tenth Doctor: Well, the only man you're ever going to be happy with.
Jack: This new regeneration, it's kind of cheeky.
Tenth Doctor: Hmm.

Yes. The Doctor struggled with his own issues and kind of projected it onto Jack.*me: amateur psychologist*

Captain Jack Harkness: Who looks at a screwdriver and thinks, "Ooh, this could be a little more sonic"?*confused/a hint of sarcasm*
Ninth Doctor: What, you've never been bored?*defensive*

Twelfth Doctor: Ahem. I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll do all I can to solve the death of your friend slash family member slash pet.

The Doctor is better at projects/mysteries rather than people.

Jack is more inclined to let someone get close if he really cares that deeply for them. He is only human.:)

Ninth Doctor: Funny little human brains. How do you get around in those things?
Rose: When he's stressed, he likes to insult species.

Clara probably made those cue cards for him because she didn't want to be his spokesperson.:)

Tenth Doctor: Ah! I've only got one heart working. How do you people cope?

Generally speaking, the Doctor sounds like an introvert, while Jack is like an extrovert.

Exactly! It's no easy task.

Clara: You're not my boss, you're one of my hobbies.

We need more empathy in the world. That's for sure. But there's still opportunity to see goodness when it does occur. I like feel good stories that happen in real life.*hopeful*

Meta-crisis Doctor: This body has got only one heart.
Donna: What, like you're human?
Meta-crisis Doctor: Oh, that's disgusting.
Donna: Oi!
Meta-crisis Doctor: Oi!
Donna: Stop it.

Most introverts tend to be preoccupied with their own thoughts and feelings.

Eleventh Doctor: I'm being extremely clever up here, and there's no one to stand around looking impressed! What's the point in having you all?
River: Couldn't you just slap him sometimes?

Everyone has different levels of expressing their introverted and extroverted side, assumptions should not be made on how a person will behave.

Tenth Doctor: Hermits United. We meet up every ten years and swap stories about caves. It's good fun, for a hermit.

When people think I'm too shy, I think they are too loud.:D

Amy: Is this because of you? Is this some Time Lordy thing because you've shown up again?

If it's not the Doctor's personality that's being questioned, it's the lifestyle he leads.

Martha: You mean you don't have a plan?
Tenth Doctor: Yes, the plan was to get inside here.
Martha: Then what?
Tenth Doctor: Well, then I'd come up with another plan.

I wish that I had a written report/transcript prepared on how to explain my role as a carer. Because when you are not prepared for a rapid succession of questions, it can get overwhelming. I also got questioned on other personal matters too.*letting go of resentment*

I'm only starting to learn how not to take things personally. It has lifted some of the burden that I use to feel towards certain people.

The strange thing is that when I do become familiar with people and become more "outgoing" or decide not to sugar-coat matters, some people can't take it. You seriously can't win when being yourself in a way. It's all about strategy, while also not losing yourself. A challenge for most people.*my theory*

*hugs just in case you need it*

Clara: You should make that thing voice-activated.*talking about the sonic screwdriver*
[pause]
Clara: Oh, for God's sake, it is, isn't it?
Twelfth Doctor: I don't want to talk about it.

Sometimes the companions give him feedback that may help in the future.:)

There's that whole parent - child role reversal thing. Even if we are the grown up child. It is still hard to be responsible for anyone who needs constant supervision. I once tried to multitask doing a TAFE assessment, whilst serving my father his lunch. I should have done one, than the other. There are a lot of things I could have done better with more patient. I just let my emotions get the better of me at the time.

You have a kind heart.*hugs*

Eleventh Doctor: Been knocking around on my own for a while. My choice, but I've started talking to myself all the time. It's giving me earache.
Amy Pond: You're lonely. That's it? Just that?
Eleventh Doctor: Just that. Promise.
AMY Pond: Okay.

Like one teacher told me: Your parents looked after you, then you look after your parents, (something like that). In my case, my father struggled to be a parent, which is why I struggled with resentment. But it was a waste of time thinking in that way.

Twelfth Doctor: I do what I do, because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind. It's just that. Just kind.

You did your mother a good service being a wonderful daughter.*hugs*

Carer's need the right support too. It's just disappointing when some of the professionals don't understand how to do so. It would have been easier if I had known better coping strategies to deal with the stress that effected my physical health too.

If people don't understand how bad the system can be, they will usually say to me: Oh, you need a break.

How do carer's really get a break? It's only other carers who will empathise with my situation.

My mum say's that my dad did love me, he just didn't know how to express it like a conventional father would. He did have his moments of kindness. I obviously wished we could have had a better father-daughter relationship.

Thank you.*hugs*

I get where you are getting from. My family was suggested respite for my father. I understand why you declined it. My fathers memory was very good so it was a waste of money and time when Doctor's charged us for a test. It was his physical health that was more the issue later in his life. Not his mindset. It was just the way the system "works".*shrugs*

That must have been very hard to deal with. I remember my dad had episodes where he would repeat certain words over and over. I'd try and calm him down but it was like he couldn't respond to me. So I just waited till he'd settle down.

*hugs*

Spike: Life isn’t bliss....*sings*

It made me curious about neuroscience and how the brain works. Mental health is something the general public should know about in more depth to avoid misconceptions.

Most people aren't aware at face value. One time I had to assist my father when we went overseas. I noticed a flight attendant was looking at how "hands on" I was with my father. For example, preparing his food to serve. My dad was just making small talk with them earlier. So for them, my dad act's like any other "normal" person.

Flight attendants are suppose to observe any unusual behaviour for security reasons.

Also it helps that organisations are informed about those with special needs. In my case, I didn't know how to address it at the time on behalf of my dad.

Furthermore, there are instances where special needs people don't feel comfortable with admitting to their condition. But if others know what to look out for from personal experience, then it doesn't have to be made public. Even though it would benefit them to have that extra assistance.

Some people might make assumptions and mistake a person who walks aimlessly about as being just slow and lost. When in reality they could be suffering from schizophrenia.

People can make judgements on others based on looks or body language on people in general.

I hope I explained myself well enough. I'm trying to avoid personalising my statements too much. Something that I have been guilty of in the past. It's all about knowing your audience and being aware of what message you want to convey.

There are mental health organisations out there. I've been looking into the local one's. I wasn't ready to educate myself while I was looking after my dad. But my personal experiences surely have influenced me to continue to learn more. Then I'll see what more can be done to raise awareness.
