Title: Warmth Gone Cold
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto, Lisa.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 600: Mechanical at
tw100.
Spoilers: Cyberwoman.
Summary: Lisa’s voice is no longer as warm as it once was.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto had fallen in love with Lisa’s voice before he’d ever met the woman herself. She’d been warmth and humour and gentle teasing on the other end of Torchwood One’s inter-office phone line and he’d told her on more than a few occasions that hearing her voice always brightened his day. She always replied that she loved his accent and would listen to him all day, except that if Ms Hartman caught her she’d probably lose her job.
When they’d finally met in person, Ianto had been blown away by how beautiful Lisa was and had stuttered and stammered his way through asking if she’d like to have coffee with him sometime. She’d smiled and said she’d love to and he’d spent every day between then and the Battle feeling like he was walking on air.
He still thinks she’s beautiful, even with the metal encasing her, and he still loves hearing her voice, when she sounds like herself, but more and more he can hear a metallic, mechanical edge to her words, something alien and wrong. He tries to ignore it, but he can’t help wondering how much longer he has to save her before he loses her completely.
