Summary: The Ice Demons meet their end.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
It’s not an easy battle, but it’s mercifully short, although merciful for whom is debatable.
The Ice Demons showed Jack no mercy, they’re shown little in return, but at least they don’t have time to suffer the way Jack did. Ianto supposes that’s a kind of mercy.
Flamethrowers are brutal but efficient, lasers slice cleanly, fire grenades…
They only use one; they have more but they’re simply not needed. The Ice Demons misjudged humanity; thought them easy targets.
They found out too late they were wrong.
Victory brings Ianto no joy, just the grim satisfaction of a job well done.

Date: 2013-12-16 11:39 am (UTC)I'm really pleased with the way the last few parts came out, it almost felt like they were writing themselves, they're quite a distinctive style, not like my usual drabbles, although I have written a few with a similar feel.
Someone I know vaguely on dreamwidth did a post once asking people what length a story had to be before they'd bother reading it and most people said they didn't bother reading anything that was less than 1000 words. It made me think. Several of my absolute favourite stories are less than 500 words long, but have more impact than many 20+ chapter fics. If the quality of writing is there, then the quantity doesn't matter - how many real gems are being missed by people who snobbishly assume that 'short' means 'not worth bothering with'? Not that I think my writing is anything really special, I just think it's silly to judge a story by its length without even reading it.
