Summary: Owen isn’t too happy about the new team member.

A/N: Double drabble.




Owen wasn’t particularly happy about Jack’s new hire. The four of them had been managing nicely, ticking along, doing their own things. They were used to each other, kept out of each other’s way, and that was how Owen liked it.


“What do we need him for anyway?”


“Don’t worry, Owen, he won’t be getting paid out of your wages,” Jack assured him. “He’s here to keep us organised and the Hub running smoothly. I’m putting him in charge of equipment maintenance, filing, cleaning, and caring for the inmates, basic general support work. It’ll free all of us up to focus on more important things. He’ll see to refreshments too. Think of it; coffee whenever you want without having to trek out to the nearest coffee shop.”


“I suppose we can see how it goes,” Owen grumbled grudgingly. “As long as he keeps out of my stuff.”


“You just wait until you’ve tried his coffee.”


“Yeah, whatever.” Owen slouched back to his desk.


He was staring sightlessly at his computer screen when a voice behind him said, “Coffee?”


“Argh!” Owen almost fell off his chair, glaring up at the newbie. “Bloody Hell, don’t sneak around like that! It’s downright creepy!”

Owen isn't stupid despite evidence to the contrary. He'll soon learn of Ianto's talents and how they can help Owen's own work day easier.
