Summary: Angel’s skin is usually cold to Buffy’s touch, but not this time.

A/N: Double drabble.




Angel’s skin is warm against her own; not the warmth of a vampire who’s recently fed, or the temperature of the room they’re in, but human warm, heated by the flow of blood circulated by a beating heart. Buffy runs her hands over his naked chest, feeling the rapid pounding beneath her palms as she gazes in wonder deep into his eyes.


“How?” she asks, her voice a breathless whisper.


He smiles down at her. “I don’t know. Does it matter?”


She shakes her head because it doesn’t; all that matters is that the man she loves is alive, and here with her.


“Hold me,” she begs. “Love me.” It’s what she’s craved ever since that first fateful time, but now it’s okay, they don’t have to worry that he’ll lose his soul again. The curse has no hold on him now he’s human. The demon that was inside him is gone.


Drawing her close, Angel kisses her, passion and tenderness combining so sweetly she thinks her heart might explode from sheer happiness…


Buffy’s eyes snap open in the darkness of her cold, lonely rented room; Angel was never there, it was just another dream. Hugging the pillow, she cries.

These two're looking for the wrong kind of love in the wrong place, especially if they mate, as the show hints at them engaging in; then they definitely are looking for the wrong kind of love and in the wrong places... and that's some scary stuff.
