A/N: Triple drabble.
“Your hair matches your eyes,” Drake said, as if he’d only just realised it. He and Drake were lying in bed, the early morning sun coming into the bedroom through a gap in the heavy drapes that covered the windows.
Smiling down at his lover, JJ giggled. “Why d’you think I dye it blue?” he teased.
“I figured it was to stand out.”
“Well, partly. I mean I’m not as tall as the rest of you. Keeps me from getting stepped on,” JJ informed him solemnly.
Drake grinned. “Now I know you’re joking.” JJ was such a lively, bubbly person, and he dressed so stylishly, often in very eye-catching colours, no one could fail to notice his presence.
“Only a little. At the police academy everyone dressed the same, we all sort of blended together; there was no room for individuality. So after I graduated I guess I rebelled a little. Coloring my hair was a statement; I couldn’t wear the latest styles, still had to wear the same uniform as every other cop, but I could do what I wanted with my hair so I did. It’s not always blue, sometimes I fancy a change of color, but I like it.”
“So do I; it suits you. What d’you think I’d look like with dyed hair?”
JJ studied Drake seriously, then shook his head. “Bright colours wouldn’t look right, not with your skin tone, but highlights would look good on you, lighter streaks here and there, or even an auburn shade. I could do them for you, but we’d have to check first to make sure you’re not allergic. Only if you want to though.”
“Sure, I think I’d like that. Just as long as you don’t accidentally turn my hair green; St Patrick’s Day’s already been and gone.”
