Out & About
Jun. 25th, 2011 09:27 pmSooooooo.... Yesterday, for the first time in more than 3 months, I went out!
There was a craft fair in town (the second this year, I had to miss the first), so I did a bit of shopping then wandered around the marquee and the outside stalls. Some lovely things on sale - I bought a few small things as gifts, then was incredibly naughty and spent more than I should have at my friend Ellie's stall, on a silver ring set with a deep red, oval garnet. It's beautiful! Didn't see Ellie though, as she's selling her jewellery at Glastonbury this weekend.
By the time I got home I was completely knackered. At least life is starting to get back to something resembling normal now the workmen have just about finished. Perhaps I'll be able to go out a bit more often now. But not until my legs stop aching!

Date: 2011-06-25 09:53 pm (UTC)Yes there are a few things that need to be finished and we have a lot of cleaning to do (the dust has settled over everything, workmen are good at making a mess but not so good at cleaning it up), but we don't have to get up so early now, it's nice to have some peace and quiet after all the banging, drilling and shouting! It will take weeks to get everything clean though, and we're so tired.

Date: 2011-06-26 09:11 am (UTC)It's the town's summer carnival in a couple of weeks so I'm hoping I'll have the energy to go along to that. I went last year and there were owls you could hold - which is brilliant, getting such a close-up look, I hope they're there again this year as I'd like to try a different owl. I've had a Barn Owl and an Eagle Owl, but there are lots of others. Last year Bessie, the third Doctor's car, was there (though the owners admit that they're not 100% certain it is the actual one used in filming, it looks the same and that was good enough for me). I got my photo taken with it. So I'd like to go if I can, see what's there this year.

Date: 2011-06-26 02:19 am (UTC)Sounds like the craft fair was good, and the ring sounds great! You deserve to treat yourself after all you've gone through/had to put up with in recent months.
Glad that things are getting back to normal. Don't envy you having to clean up all the dust though!

Date: 2011-06-26 09:21 am (UTC)The ring is gorgeous - I was going to post a photo, but I couldn't get a good one, they all came out blurry. I've been treating myself too much lately, buying crystals and tumblestones on ebay. Several places have sales on, which is just too much for me to resist - especially when something I really like is half price and suddenly actually what I would consider affordable! And then last night I was browsing and an Orbicular Jasper was looking at me with two big, round eyes, saying 'Buy, me, please!' So I did, but I can't just buy one, postage rates are better if I buy more.... I'm weak-willed, I know. Crystals are my biggest vice, I can't resist them, or maybe I just don't want to ;)
