Double Drabble: Yuk

Summary: Torchwood has a new alien resident.

A/N: Double drabble.




Torchwood’s latest alien visitor sat in a heap on the floor of a cell. Jack had tasked Owen with checking it over for injury, while finding out everything he could about it. If they had to look after it for any length of time, at the very least they’d need to know what it ate.


It was a species none of them had encountered before, there wasn’t anything in Torchwood’s databases that even came close; it was merely a shapeless, slimy-looking, black, rubbery lump, with no limbs and no discernible features.


They knew it was alive because their scanners registered life signs coming from it, but the only other thing they’d learned was that its skin was toxic; Jack had touched it and died almost immediately. Transporting it to the Hub had been tricky; using old planks they’d levered up one edge and slid an old door under it, then used that to carry it into the van.


“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Ianto said as Owen poked the thing with one of his instruments.


“I’m trying to examine… fuck!” The probe turned black and melted.


“Yuk! Maybe you’d best just scan it from a safe distance.”

Now that will cause a big problem, since they can't feed it or check for injury. I expect Owen will take some persuading to go near it again. I guess Ianto will go back to the archives to see if he can find any information that hasn't been input to the databases. Still as we used to say, is the internet vanished, people would be beating a path to the libraries again,

Basic scans gave them enough information. Yuk doesn't do much, they don't have to worry about being attacked, and its secretions don't appear to dissolve stone, wood, glass, or perspex. Only metal. Yuk is at Torchwood to stay. LOL!
