Summary: Ianto knows he shouldn’t be nervous, but he can’t help it.

A/N: Double drabble.




Straightening his tie yet again, Ianto silently cursed himself; it was already as straight as it could get, short of using a ruler or a setsquare, and he drew the line at that, no pun intended.


It was all well and good telling himself it was nothing more than a nervous habit, developed long ago when he’d first been faced with wearing a necktie as part of his school uniform, but that didn’t stop him doing it. Sooner or later, without his conscious volition, he’d find his fingers creeping back up there to adjust the knot yet again, like his hands had minds of their own. At times like this he wasn’t too sure they didn’t, him being Torchwood. Weirder things had happened.


He wasn’t even sure why he was so nervous; it wasn’t as if he’d never done this before, but it was the same every single time, because what on earth was a boy from a Newport council estate in doing at Buckingham Palace?


Beside him, Jack smirked. “Relax, Ianto. Anyone would think you were going to your execution, not having afternoon tea with the Queen.”


Maybe that was why he was nervous. The bloody Corgis hated him!

The corgis might hate him, but the Queen is fond of him, and will make sure he doesn;t get nipped. She is fond of Jack too -who wouldn;t be?

I think the corgis are jealous because Ianto gets to keep Jack ;)

Either that or Jack bribes them to like him with dog treats.
