Ryo loved Thanksgiving, really he did. It was wonderful to gather around the table with all his loved ones and share a celebratory meal, remembering all the things he had to be thankful for, and he’d honestly enjoyed cooking up the huge feast he’d set before his family and friends. Everyone had eaten until they could barely move, himself included, but now…


He’d slumped in front of the TV for a while with all his guests, before finally stirring himself to make coffee, only to come face-to-face with the part of the Thanksgiving festivities he liked the least. Having spent all morning in the kitchen cooking, now it looked like he’d be spending most of the evening there as well, slaving over the kitchen sink. Maybe he shouldn’t have invited so many people; in all the excitement of the holiday he always forgot what a chore washing the dishes could be.


“Hey, everything okay?” Warm arms wrapped around him from behind and Dee rested his chin on Ryo’s shoulder. “You were gone so long I was startin’ to wonder if you’d gotten lost.”


“Sorry. Coffee will be ready if a few minutes, I was just…” Ryo trailed off, disconsolately gesturing at the piles of dirty dishes. “Looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me with this lot.”


“That’s where you’re wrong, babe. I’ve got it all organised; first coffee, then we divide the dishes into loads and everyone gets to take a turn at washin’ or dryin’ while you put your feet up and relax. You’ve done more than your share already; it’s time the rest of us pulled our weight. Might take us all afternoon, but it’ll all get done in stages. Go sit down; I’ll finish the coffee.”


Ryo smiled. “Thanks, Dee.”


“Anything for you, babe.”

Dee will even take a turn himself, sharing duties with Carol's aunt probably. He does have good ideas sometimes; it means no one has to do it all.

This is why I have a dishwasher. As a family we do a lot of cooking and I am not washing them by hand.

I can see Dee doing that. As many dishes as he has washed at Ryo's I would think he would want to give them both a break from that.

This is my head canon now, the remodel includes completely redoing the kitchen with modern appliances.

I'm sure Dee will have a state-of-the-art kitchen fitted so his baby can really enjoy cooking, without having to wash dishes after.

My headcanon also says that they turn the bit of the upstairs hallway outside the second front door into a utility room, with washing machine and drier, and a big freezer.

That sounds right to me. If they are goi g remodel it makes sense to use the space efficiently. I can imagine them sitting down together and figuring out what they want and where.

Considering how old the building is probably more outlets , ones with usb jacks.

Yes, they'll have a lit of rewiring to do, but Dee knows people in the trade. In my headcanon he did building work part time to help pay his way through police academy. Dee also drew up the plans himself. He's not just a pretty face!
