dw100.
Spoilers: Nothing specific.
Summary: It isn’t every day Donna gets to attend a royal ball.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.
Donna had never been to a royal ball before. Everywhere she looked were beautiful women in stunning gowns, and dashing men in perfectly cut suits.
The ballroom itself was a study in splendour; wide windows framed by heavy velvet curtains, a stage with a full orchestra, tables covered in snow-white cloths arranged around the dance floor, liveried serving staff gliding about with trays of hors d’ouvres and glasses of champagne…
The Doctor offered her his arm. “Shall we dance?”
“Why not?” Raising her skirts with one hand, Donna glided down the steps. She planned to make the most of tonight.

Date: 2019-10-12 04:40 am (UTC)It's funny that I wrote a small fic where the Meta-Crisis Doctor asks Donna to dance.:)
Great minds think alike.;)

Melena: Chuck, I think your hand is supposed to be on my hip.
Chuck: Apparently, I learned the girl's part of this dance. Would you mind leading?
*After Chuck's brother in law Devon (leading as the man) teaches him the dance steps*

I've danced the man's part myself sometimes, teaching younger kids the basics back when I took classes.

That's understandable. Once you have full knowledge of something, you can teach it.

Date: 2019-10-25 10:41 am (UTC)There's also the "The Real Dirty Dancing" which is based on the movie. I remember "So You Think You Can Dance". I'm basically a person who watches shows where people dance except me.*thinks of Whitney Houston's: "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"*

Date: 2019-10-27 09:04 am (UTC)I miss being able to run without shortness of breath.*sigh*
Light jogging for me these days, and that's usually when I'm heading off to catch the bus.:)

Date: 2019-10-28 10:21 am (UTC)So sorry to hear that. I pulled my back once.*hugs*
At the moment my right arm is acting up again. It is annoying that it compromises how I hold things. It's also a strain on my typing right now. I previously did some muscle therapy for it. I just can't overdo it the way I did before.

Date: 2019-10-28 11:45 am (UTC)It's something I have to live with. Not fun.
I have weak wrists so I have to be careful. It makes life awkward when hands or arms are injured.

Date: 2019-11-04 01:16 am (UTC)I was pushing someone in a wheelchair the other day. It's fine going down a slope. Not so much going up it. It's my determination that gets me through it!
I want my youth back!*mentally shouts dramatically*

Date: 2019-11-04 12:11 pm (UTC)Ouch! I don't have the strength, I probably wouldn't be able to push a wheelchair on flat ground, never mind uphill!
There's a saying, 'Youth is wasted on the young'. So true!

Date: 2019-11-09 12:13 pm (UTC)Some wheelchairs are better than others. I noticed the one's with smaller wheels are easier to navigate.
Obviously the electric ones I see people using are the best. Although as a pedestrian, I get concern with how fast they go.
A man in my local area was injured & sent to hospital because he used the ramp, as there isnt a lift/elevator at that particular train station.
I can't agree with you more! I don't care about "my looks" as I get older. I just miss the strength I use to have. I'll just focus on gaining abit back through light exercises.

Date: 2019-11-09 05:29 pm (UTC)Electric wheelchairs are the only way some people can get around with some degree of independence. Ramps are useful for wheelchairs, but some are much too steep and they're not something anyone should go down at speed. Too risky. I hope he wasn't seriously injured.
I wish I was as strong as I used to be. Life gets harder as we get older.

Date: 2019-11-12 09:13 am (UTC)I understand those who want to get around on their own. I just feel for them when they get into a tight situation.
I think the man is recuperating and will be okay.:)
The other day, I was about to cross the street with some other pedestrians and an old lady with a cane asked for assistance.
I always try to help but are wary of those that don't want it.*one bad experience*

Date: 2019-11-12 11:43 am (UTC)The world is not designed for people with disabilities, and there's still not enough being done to change that.
That's good.
I'll always help if someone asks, but many are fine on their own and don't want help.
One time coming home in the dark after taking my rabbit to the vet, he was in his carrier on a trolley I was pulling and I had one of mum's walking sticks with me in case I needed to fend off dogs or cats from my poor bunny. It was drizzling so I had my rain hat on. This was when I was in my late 40s. I came to the main road and was waiting to cross because there was a lot of traffic, and this woman who was probably my age or older insisted on helping me across the road. I didn't need help, but I was almost home and not in the mood for an argument, so I let her, but it was so idiotic!

Date: 2019-11-16 09:51 am (UTC)Yes, innovation needs to be made. I've heard how age care facilities are the only option for those who need full time care. It's a topic that I don't fully understand.
I guess it can be overwhelming when someone makes a fuss over you. For me, it annoys me even more when people lack ettique. I guess I've had various bad experiences.*shrugs*
