A/N: Double drabble.

From his first day with Torchwood Three, Ianto had found it difficult to understand why the supposedly intelligent people he was working with seemed completely incapable of operating a perfectly simple coffee machine.

He’d found the instruction manual helpfully tucked underneath it when he’d been cleaning the Hub on his first morning, and after giving the machine itself a thorough clean he’d bought some good quality beans for it, and set it to work. He’d been turning out high quality caffeinated beverages ever since. Really, it couldn’t have been more straightforward to use if it had operated itself.

Even with the instructions, however, the other team members were completely incapable of getting anything remotely drinkable out of it, as he’d discovered when he returned from his month’s suspension. The machine had been a mess again, smeared with something that looked like treacle but smelled like burned coffee.

“It spat all over Owen when he tried to make a brew,” Jack said. “He followed the instructions, but… it only likes you.”

“It’s a coffee machine! It can’t like or dislike people!” Ianto would’ve thought that was self-evident.

Jack huffed. “Try telling the machine that.”

When Ianto turned it on, it purred.

The End
