Title: Just A Guy
Fandom: FAKE
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Bikky, OCs, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 153: Not A Hero at
drabble_weekly.
Spoilers/Setting: Years after Like Like Love.
Summary: Bikky knows he isn’t a hero, no matter what the fans think.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
The fans are cheering, waving banners, chanting his name, acting like he’s some kind of a hero, all because he scored the winning point. It wasn’t even a championship game, just the pre-season opener against his team’s greatest rivals.
Chances are, the Clippers won’t even make it to the play-offs, never mind take the trophy, but the way everyone’s celebrating you’d think it was a done deal.
It’s a heady experience, being the center of attention like this, but as the reporters shove their microphones and cameras in his face Bikky makes it clear that he didn’t win the game single-handed; it was a team effort. He may have been the one to put the final points on the board, but if it hadn’t been for his teammates, that last basket would’ve meant nothing.
“I’m not a hero,” he insists. “Just a guy who loves playing basketball. The real hero is the man who raised me after my father died, supported me, and worked his ass off to make sure I could do whatever I wanted with my life. He’s a cop, puts his life on the line every day, and I owe him everything. This one’s for you, Ryo!”
