“Ianto,” Gwen called as he passed her desk, “have you seen a bakery box about so big?” She held her hands about a foot apart. “I was sure I left it on my desk when I nipped to the loo.”


“White, cardboard, with the logo of that new bakery on the side?”


“That’s the one. Where is it?”


“Myfanwy had a box like that up in her aerie; I was wondering where it had come from.”


“Oh, please tell me you’re kidding!” Gwen gasped, horrified. “That was Rhys’ birthday cake! I had it made to order, picked it up from the bakery on my way here!”


“Chocolate?” Ianto enquired.


“Of course, a chocolate sponge with buttercream filling and chocolate icing, Rhys’ favourite.”


Ianto sighed. “Well there you have it. How many times have I told you not to leave chocolate lying around unattended? You know what Myf’s like.”


“But it was a sponge cake, not a bar of that dark chocolate you get for her!”


“Chocolate is chocolate, Gwen. Dark is her favourite, but any kind of chocolate will do. She’s a pteranodon; she doesn’t understand the concept of ownership.”


“What am I going to do?”


“Buy Rhys another cake?”

Gwen never learns. Rhys deserves better. He'll enjoy the new cake, though it won't be as personal Still, Myf loved it

Myf was the only winner here. Gwen will hopefully be more sensible in future. I feel bad for Rhys not getting his personalised cake. Gwen had better make it up to him with more than a replacement cake.
