Title: Individuality
Fandom: FAKE
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ryo, Bikky.
Rating: PG
Setting: During the manga.
Summary: Raising a kid isn’t cheap, but at least Bikky doesn’t have expensive tastes.
Written Using: The tw100 prompt ‘Label’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: This one’s a double drabble and a half, 250 words.
Ryo checked the price label and winced. Okay, so he was far from broke, he was careful with his money and had his savings, but prices were getting so expensive and buying Bikky new sneakers every few months took a hefty chunk out of what was left from his latest paycheck. If it was just the sneakers it might not be so bad, but the boy was forever needing new clothes too. He outgrew everything so fast.
On the bright side, these sneakers were a lot cheaper than the designer gear so many kids insisted on. If Bikky started wanting to be fashionable and wear what the other kids wore, Ryo was sunk, but thankfully his foster son turned up his nose at designer labels. Anyone who wore that stuff needed their head examining; all the extra money just to have a fashionable brand emblazoned on their clothes where everybody could see it…
Bikky was his own person; he wore what he was comfortable in and didn’t give a damn what anyone else thought. “I don’t need a label stuck on me,” he’d told Ryo, “and I don’t want to be part of the crowd that do. I already know who I am and what I’m gonna be when I grow up.”
It had made Ryo proud to hear that; Bikky wasn’t a sheep to follow the herd, he clung to his individuality, wanted to stand out from the crowd.
That attitude would take him wherever he wanted to go.
